Hi, I'm JENNIFER

When I can mix two of my favourite things – design and dogs – in one location, I’m a happy camper. Biggie Smalls and I have been out on a lot of neighbourhood walks this Summer and one of our favourite recent discoveries was Good Boy Collective, a super chic pet boutique with zero of the pretentious nature often found in the world of upscale pet retail.

As we entertained ourselves perusing the ridiculously adorable housewares, personal hygiene goods and accessories for today’s modern pup, we met GBC’s owner, Dayandra Elrod; opening the shop alongside her two dogs, Bowie and Rupert, Dayandra embodies all the awesome vibes that Vancouver’s network of stellar boss-babe entrepreneurs have become known for. With a focus on quality goods and knowing her vendors, Dayandra is offering up Vancouver pups (and their people) a new go-to stop for all their needs…

While I was way into the minimalistic dog toys that completely colour coordinated with my current design palette, Biggie is a bit of a toy snob (he only plays with pink flamingo toys. Literally.) what we could both agree on, however, was the stellar lineup of stylish pet beds – think 100% linen and beautiful textures – and beautiful handmade collar/leash/harnesses in a variety of fun patterns to suit any pet’s personality from brands like local fave, Handsome Mountain. I’m also a major fan of their new collection of cheeky dog tags, with sayings like “So Fetch”, “Basic Bitch” and “Shit Happens” amongst other laugh-out-loud quotes to don your dog.

I think my favourite offering from Good Boy Collective is the sustainable, refillable zero-waste pet food from BC based Earth Options; available at GBC in three recipes (including allergy-sensitive options), the idea is simple and forward-thinking: you can purchase a cute branded jar from the shop, or bring your own, and are charged by weight for the fill with the dried food. Such a simple system (and seriously quality diet options) that brings a local focus and sustainability to a market that is currently oversaturated with food-fillers and heavy packaging.

If you’re out for a Sunday stroll with your pup (or even without!), I’d recommend a pop-in to see what Good Boy Collective is all about.
